PSU Pre-Visit Team Inspects Conference Center Ahead of Royal Visit - Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to Preside Over the Opening of the 9th Regional RSPG Academic Conference and Exhibition
The Royal Advance Team for Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, led by Lieutenant General Kasidet Wattanawarangkun, Royal Aide-de-Camp, visited the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty the King’s Accession to the Throne International Convention Center at Prince of Songkla University, Hat Yai Campus, to inspect the venue and coordinate preparations for the upcoming Royal Visit.
Her Royal Highness is scheduled to privately visit PSU on October 12, 2026, to graciously preside over the opening of the 9th Regional Academic Conference and Exhibition on School Botanical Gardens and Local Resource Bases.
The preparatory meeting was held on September 16, 2026, at Exhibition Hall 1. Participants included Captain Adul Chuthong, Vice Governor of Songkhla Province; Associate Professor Dr. Wasin Suwannarat, Vice President for Hat Yai Campus; Mr. Pornchai Chuthamas, Deputy Director of RSPG; and Dr. Piyarat Prinya Phongcharoensap, Assistant Director of RSPG and Secretary to the RSPG Committee, together with university executives, organizing committees, and representatives from relevant agencies.
The Royal Advance Team and participating agencies reviewed key arrangements, including venue readiness, security, the Royal route, national and Royal emblem flags, and public health measures. Responsibilities and operational guidelines were also coordinated to help ensure that preparations for the Royal Visit are carried out smoothly, efficiently, and with due honor.
The 9th Regional Academic Conference and Exhibition on School Botanical Gardens and Local Resource Bases will take place from October 12 to 16, 2026, at the PSU International Convention Center, Hat Yai Campus, Songkhla. The event is jointly hosted by Prince of Songkla University, Songkhla Province, and the Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, or RSPG.
The event aims to support the Royal Initiative and share the conservation work of PSU and its partner networks, including achievements under the School Botanical Garden and Local Resource Base programs.
Through academic sessions, presentations, and exhibitions, the event will also provide a platform for participants and partner networks from across Thailand to exchange knowledge, strengthen collaboration, and encourage greater awareness of the value of natural and local resources and their sustainable conservation.
