PSU signs MOU with Colombo Plan Secretariat to advance human resource development
Prince of Songkla University (PSU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Colombo Plan Secretariat (CPS) to strengthen cooperation in human resource development, education, knowledge exchange, and postgraduate scholarships for member countries.
The MOU signing ceremony was held on 14 September 2026 at PSU Hat Yai
Campus, Songkhla, with Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub, President of
Prince of Songkla University, and H.E. Mrs. Chulamanee Chartsuwan,
Secretary-General of the Colombo Plan, signing the agreement. The
ceremony was witnessed by Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director-General of
the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), representatives of
the Colombo Plan Secretariat, and distinguished guests.
A key area of the partnership is the Postgraduate Scholarship Program, which will provide eligible candidates from Colombo Plan member countries with opportunities to pursue postgraduate studies at PSU. The program will focus on fields that are relevant to national development and responsive to regional and global challenges.
Through the scholarship program, PSU aims to contribute not only to advanced education but also to the development of knowledge, skills, and future leaders who can apply their expertise to benefit their communities and countries. The initiative reflects PSU’s commitment to developing human resources and supporting sustainable development in the region.
The partnership also highlights the role of education and academic cooperation as a bridge connecting people and countries. By bringing together students, academics, and professionals from different countries, PSU and CPS aim to foster stronger people-to-people connections and promote mutual understanding across the region.
PSU also expressed its appreciation to TICA for its important role in facilitating the cooperation between PSU and the Colombo Plan Secretariat and in supporting the use of education and academic collaboration to strengthen Thailand’s international partnerships.
The signing of the MOU marks another step in PSU’s internationalization efforts and provides a foundation for practical cooperation in scholarships, capacity building, knowledge exchange, and international networking, contributing to human resource development and sustainable development across Colombo Plan member countries and the wider region.
