PSU opens the 32nd Southern Thailand Agricultural Fair, highlighting the Future of Thai Agriculture Amid Global Crises
The Faculty of Natural Resources, Prince of Songkla University (PSU), officially opened the 32nd Southern Agricultural Fair on 10 August 2026 under the theme “The Future of Thai Agriculture Amid Global Crises.”
The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Chuan Leekpai, Advisor to the Prince of Songkla University Council. Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub, President of Prince of Songkla University, delivered the welcoming remarks, while Asst. Prof. Taweesak Niyombandith, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Resources, presented the background and objectives of the event. Distinguished guests and representatives from various sectors also attended the ceremony at the Faculty of Natural Resources, PSU Hat Yai Campus.
Held from 8–19 August 2026, the 12-day event takes place at the Faculty of Natural Resources and the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty the King’s Accession to the Throne International Convention Center, Prince of Songkla University.
This year’s fair serves as a platform for integrating knowledge, research, technology, and modern innovation to help farmers and entrepreneurs respond to current challenges, particularly climate change and food security.
Asst. Prof. Taweesak Niyombandith, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Resources, said the Southern Agricultural Fair aims to bridge academic knowledge and research with practical applications for businesses and farmers. This year, particular emphasis is placed on research and innovation that can contribute to addressing global challenges.
Key exhibitions and activities include:
1. Smart Farming & BCG Zone
The zone showcases smart agricultural innovations, including Internet of Things (IoT) applications for farming, value-added products from oil palm materials, and biochar technology. A plant health clinic is also available, offering consultations and free biological products for visitors.
2. Aquatic Park 2026
The aquatic science exhibition offers visitors an opportunity to explore the underwater world through aquatic plant displays and learn about biofloc technology. It also highlights the economic potential of sea cucumbers and seaweed, as well as the conservation and significance of the pink mahseer, regarded as a distinctive species of the Sai Buri River.
3. Livestock and BCG Animal Science Zone
This zone features live animal exhibitions, BCG approaches to beef cattle production in the lower South, developments in Thailand’s goat industry, and environmentally friendly alternative animal feeds.
4. Agricultural and Animal Competitions
Competitions feature a range of agricultural products, including Monthong durian, Tubtim Siam pomelo, premium champedak fruit and fried champedak products, as well as budgerigar and bantam chicken competitions.
5. Training and Workshops
Visitors can take part in practical training sessions covering cricket chili paste as a future-protein product, beeswax balm making, simplified plant tissue culture, the use of Google Earth for agricultural information, mushroom cultivation and spawn production, microgreen production, and pest diagnosis.
6. Academic Conference
The 3rd Agricultural Academic Conference, under the theme “Innovation for Sustainable Agriculture,” will be held from 13–14 August 2026 at the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty the King’s Accession to the Throne International Convention Center.
7. Agricultural Products and Machinery Fair
Visitors can explore and purchase quality plant varieties, safe agricultural produce, and agricultural machinery and innovations from suppliers across Thailand.
The 32nd Southern Agricultural Fair runs from 8–19 August 2026. The Faculty of Natural Resources, Prince of Songkla University, welcomes farmers, entrepreneurs, students, members of the public, and all those interested in agriculture to visit the fair, discover quality agricultural products, and learn about new technologies and innovations shaping the future of agriculture throughout the 12-day event.
