PSU Pattani hosts the 2nd Internationalization on Campus event, fostering an international learning environment
Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Pattani Campus, hosted the 2nd Internationalization on Campus under the theme “Together for Tomorrow: SDGs Fusion Fest,” bringing together more than 300 participants from Thailand and abroad to celebrate cultural diversity, international collaboration, and sustainable development. The event was held on 5 August 2026 at the historic Amat Tho Phraya Phibun Phitthayaphak Residence, PSU Pattani Campus.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Ms. Patimoh Sadeeyamu, Governor of Pattani Province. Asst. Prof. Dr. Attachai Ueranantasun, Vice President for Pattani Campus, delivered the welcoming remarks, while Assoc. Prof. Dr. Montira Leelakriangsak, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Pattani Campus, presented the objectives and background of the event.
The ceremony was also attended by Mr. Muhamad Danial Atif Bin Nasiren, Consul of Malaysia; Ms. Sofia Payordueramae, staff member of the Consulate General of Malaysia; representatives from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Malaysia; PSU executives; government officials; representatives from Thai and international university networks; faculty members; staff; and Thai and international students.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Montira Leelakriangsak said this year’s event builds on the success of the inaugural Internationalization on Campus held in 2025 and continues the university’s efforts to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The initiative aims to apply university knowledge to create opportunities and improve the quality of life of local communities, while promoting an inclusive learning environment where students can learn from cultural diversity. It also seeks to strengthen partnerships with educational institutions and organizations in Thailand and abroad to support sustainable development.
Previous initiatives have produced tangible outcomes, including opportunities for Thai and international students to exchange knowledge and experiences, develop communication skills, and deepen their understanding of cultural differences.
The university has also built upon research and innovation from the Pattani Integrated Poverty Alleviation Project, applying academic knowledge to practical community development. These efforts have helped add value to local products, generate income, and improve the quality of life of people in the area. At the same time, they have strengthened collaboration among the university, government agencies, the private sector, civil society, and international partners.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Attachai Ueranantasun, Vice President for Pattani Campus, said PSU Pattani Campus is located in an area rich in ethnic, linguistic, and religious diversity. The university therefore seeks to provide an inclusive learning environment that embraces international perspectives while remaining closely connected to sustainable local development.
PSU Pattani Campus also aims to serve as a bridge between local wisdom and the global community, creating opportunities for Thai and international students to learn, develop, and grow together as global citizens.
The theme “Together for Tomorrow: SDGs Fusion Fest” reflects the university’s commitment to creating a learning environment that respects cultural diversity, encourages mutual understanding, and connects academic knowledge with society. It also supports the development of essential skills for living and working in the 21st century.
The Vice President for Pattani Campus added that the event goes beyond cultural exchange. It also highlights the university’s role in translating knowledge, research, and international collaboration into practical benefits for communities.
One example is the Pattani Integrated Poverty Alleviation Project, which demonstrates how research and academic knowledge can be applied to create value and contribute to sustainable area-based development.
Governor Patimoh Sadeeyamu commended the university for its role in applying knowledge to create meaningful change in Pattani Province, particularly through the Pattani Integrated Poverty Alleviation Project, supported by Thailand’s Program Management Unit on Area-Based Development (PMU A).
The project has helped transform research findings into community products and innovations, contributing to income generation, employment opportunities, and improved quality of life. The Governor noted that these achievements demonstrate how collaboration among universities, government agencies, local communities, and international networks can contribute to lasting and sustainable development.
A highlight of the event was an exhibition showcasing achievements from the Pattani Integrated Poverty Alleviation Project. Community products developed through university research were presented alongside international exhibitions, illustrating how knowledge from classrooms and laboratories can be translated into practical value for communities and help bring local products to wider audiences under the concept “From Research to Quality of Life.”
Throughout the event, participants took part in a range of experiential learning activities, including a Cultural Parade celebrating cultural diversity, Language Booths, an international Food Festival, a Local Product Marketplace, and Cultural Performances representing different countries and traditions.
These activities provided opportunities for participants to broaden their perspectives, experience different cultures, and strengthen mutual understanding through direct interaction.
Under the theme “Together for Tomorrow: SDGs Fusion Fest,” the 2nd Internationalization on Campus was more than an international and cultural exchange event. It served as a platform connecting education, research, innovation, culture, and community development, with the shared goal of building an inclusive learning society in which people from different backgrounds can participate, learn, and grow together sustainably.
Through the event, Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus, reaffirmed its commitment to turning diversity into a source of shared strength—building understanding, connecting people across cultures, and contributing to sustainable development.
Guided by the spirit of “Together for Tomorrow,” the university continues to work toward a future in which diverse communities can move forward together, with no one left behind.
