PSU launches World HAPEX 2026 to advance Thailand's halal industry on the global stage under the theme "Halal Wellness and Innovation"




Prince of Songkla University officially opened World HAPEX 2026, an international halal trade exhibition and academic conference, on 30 July 2026 at the PSU International Convention Center in Hat Yai, Songkhla. The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Arun Boonchom, the Sheikhul Islam of Thailand, and brought together government officials, industry leaders, academics, entrepreneurs, and delegates from 13 countries.



Held from 30 July to 2 August 2026, this year's event is themed "Halal Wellness and Innovation." It aims to strengthen Thailand's halal industry by integrating research, technology, and innovation while promoting international collaboration in academia, trade, and investment.



Assoc. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub, President of Prince of Songkla University, said the University has continuously advanced halal research and innovation. He described World HAPEX 2026 as an important platform that connects researchers, entrepreneurs, government agencies, and industry partners from around the world to support the future growth of the global halal industry.



The event marks the 15th edition of World HAPEX and features an international academic conference with 34 research presentations, more than 224 exhibition booths, and a wide range of networking and business-matching activities. More than 20,000 visitors are expected to attend throughout the four-day event.

A highlight of the opening ceremony was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Prince of Songkla University and COMSTECH of Pakistan, expanding international collaboration in halal research, innovation, and academic development.



Through World HAPEX 2026, Prince of Songkla University continues to strengthen its role in advancing Thailand's halal industry, fostering global partnerships, and promoting innovation that supports sustainable economic growth and enhances the country's position as a regional halal hub.
