PSU holds merit-making and alms-giving ceremony in celebration of His Majesty the King’s Birthday Anniversary
Prince of Songkla University (PSU), through the Division of Student Development and Alumni Relations, Hat Yai Campus, organized a merit-making and alms-giving ceremony on July 23, 2026, at the Romsritrang Building, Hat Yai Campus, in celebration of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua’s Birthday Anniversary, observed annually on July 28.
The ceremony was held to express the University community’s profound gratitude for His Majesty’s gracious contributions to the nation. University executives, faculty members, staff, and students participated in the event.
The program began with the offering of meals to nine Buddhist monks. Associate Professor Dr. Wirote Yourovong, Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Affairs, presided over the ceremony, which included paying homage to the Triple Gem, observing the Five Precepts, Buddhist chanting, and receiving blessings from the monks.
Following the religious ceremony, the presiding officer, together with university executives, staff, and students, took part in a water-pouring ritual and presented dry food and essential items to the nine monks. The merit-making ceremony was conducted as an act of devotion, gratitude, and respect for His Majesty while bringing blessings to all participants.
The event reflects Prince of Songkla University's deep appreciation for His Majesty's royal benevolence and its commitment to preserving Thailand's Buddhist traditions. It also provided an opportunity for members of the University community to come together in demonstrating their loyalty to the Thai monarchy and honoring the nation's cherished cultural values.
