PSU Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences hosts CDD 2026 in Phuket, showcasing drug development research at the global stage

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Prince of Songkla University, together with its network of pharmacy and health science institutions, hosted the 8th Current Drug Development International Conference 2026, or CDD 2026, under the theme “Future Medicine and Healthcare.” The conference was held from May 21–23, 2026, in Phuket.

The event served as an international platform for exchanging knowledge, academic advancements, and research in drug development, pharmaceuticals, health products, cosmetics, and healthcare technologies. It also aimed to strengthen collaboration among researchers, faculty members, graduate students, and industry partners from Thailand and abroad.

The conference reflected a strong commitment to advancing drug development and health sciences, from creating new knowledge and expanding innovation to promoting sustainable development and the responsible use of natural resources. Its key goal was to support high-quality research that can be translated into practical applications for healthcare, society, and commercial development.

CDD 2026 attracted nearly 200 participants and recorded the highest number of international applicants in the conference’s history. The number of oral and poster presentations also exceeded that of the previous conference in 2023, reflecting the growing recognition and quality of this academic platform.

Participants also had opportunities to further develop their research for publication in international Scopus-indexed journals, while pharmacists attending the conference received 7.5 continuing pharmacy education credits.

The conference covered four major fields: natural products and traditional medicine, pharmaceutical biotechnology and medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical technology and drug delivery systems, and cosmeceuticals and nutraceuticals.

It featured four keynote speakers and eight invited speakers from Thailand and abroad, sharing insights on topics such as microneedle drug delivery, future vaccine design, natural bioactive compounds, bioinformatics in drug development, transdermal delivery systems, 3D printing in pharmaceuticals, and product safety in cosmetics and healthcare.

The first day featured keynote lectures on microneedle technology and vaccine innovation, followed by invited lectures, oral presentations, and poster sessions. These activities provided valuable opportunities for young researchers and graduate students to exchange knowledge closely with experts in the field.

First launched in 2010 by the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, PSU, the CDD conference has continued to grow into an important international academic platform for drug development. This eighth edition marks another meaningful step in advancing knowledge, research, and collaborative networks toward sustainable innovation in medicine and healthcare.
