Seven agencies join PSU to promote sustainable palm oil production under RSPO standards

Prince of Songkla University, led by its President, together with the Director of the Science Park, participated in the signing of a seven-party Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to advance sustainable palm oil production in Songkhla province. The ceremony was presided over by the Vice President of the Songkhla Provincial Administrative Organization, with representatives from partner agencies joining the signing at the Southern Science Park, PSU Hatyai Campus, on March 16, 2026.

The initiative aims to elevate palm oil production to meet international standards, particularly the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), a globally recognized benchmark that is becoming increasingly important in the global palm oil market. The project seeks to support local farmers in transitioning toward environmentally friendly, standardized, and competitive production systems.

The PSU President emphasized that the university’s mission extends beyond education to serving as a source of knowledge that enhances the quality of life in Southern Thailand. As palm oil remains a key economic crop in the region, this collaboration represents an important step in promoting sustainable agricultural practices.

The partnership brings together seven key organizations, including the Songkhla Provincial Administrative Organization, Songkhla Provincial Agriculture Office, Prince of Songkla University, and leading palm oil companies, with RSPO and the Office of Agricultural Economics Region 9 serving as witnesses - reflecting strong collaboration across the entire palm oil supply chain.
