The
SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) categorizes its evaluation criteria into three key areas, consisting of:
1. Research (50%): This consists of the number of academic documents, journals, and research papers, the number of citations, and the number of authors associated with the institution's academic and research outputs, based on data from Scopus.
2. Innovation (30%): This focus area covers innovative knowledge, patents, or scientific publications from the institution that are cited in patents, with data evaluated from PATSTAT (Patent Statistical Database).
3. Societal (20%): This is evaluated based on the size of the institution's web presence, the number of web pages linked to the institution's URL, the number of networks (subnets) that link access to the institution's website, and the volume of documents and information from the institution shared across social media.
The score calculation counts from 5 years back up to 2 years prior to the ranking year. For example, for the 2024 rankings, all data used for calculation would span from 2018 to 2022. Additionally, during that 5-year period (e.g., 2018 - 2022) used for the final year's calculation, there must be at least 100 published works.
Furthermore, in 2025, Prince of Songkla University was ranked 7th out of 42 leading universities in Thailand and 1,161st in the world. This demonstrates a strong commitment to elevating standards and a readiness to continuously move forward every year.
