University executives, members of the Graduate School Committee, chairs of graduate program committees, faculty, and interested participants gathered to exchange views and design operational frameworks for 'Transforming the Role of the Graduate School' into a core strategic unit of the university for the future.
This event stems from the resolution of the Prince of Songkla University Council at its 447th meeting (5/2025) on August 10, 2025. The council proposed a review and redesign of the Graduate School’s roles and responsibilities, benchmarking past functions against future directions. The objective is to enable the Graduate School to effectively drive university development and adapt to the evolving landscape of both Thai and international higher education systems.
This forum aims to brainstorm and define concrete strategies across four key dimensions:
Development of integrated graduate curricula, Management and acquisition of internal and external funding, Graduate student development, Internal management and support systems.
Furthermore, the workshop seeks to develop strategic guidelines and both short-term and long-term operational plans for the university's consideration.
The event featured a keynote lecture by Professor Dr. Sanit Aksornkoae, Chairman of the Prince of Songkla University Council, on the topic 'The Role of the Graduate School in Driving the University’s Future.'
Additionally, Professor Emeritus Sutthiporn Jitmitraparp, M.D., Chairperson of the Science, Research, and Innovation (SRI) Budget Scrutiny Committee 2025–2026, delivered a special lecture titled 'Driving Graduate Education to Create New Value for the University.
The program also included workshop sessions divided into four sub-groups to present proposed strategies for the Graduate School’s advancement, concluding with a summary of the brainstorming outcomes at the end of the event.
This meeting will lead to the development of strategic guidelines and operational plans, covering both short and long terms. The aim is to elevate the Graduate School's role into a core strategic unit that drives the university's future development in human capital, research, and high-level innovation.
