Project Summary

Tourism-Zero project aims to support two Higher Education Institutions in Thailand (Chiang Mai University & Prince of Songkla University), two in China (Chengdu University & Yunnan University) and two in Lao PDR (Savannakhet University & National University of Lao) to boost the quality and relevance of their academic offer to the challenges of environmental degradation in their countries and to the market needs for sustainable zero-waste management.

More specifically, the project will:
1. Assess practices, needs, knowledge and skills gaps on zero-waste management of the tourism and hospitality sector
2. Develop new courses on zero-waste management for sustainable hospitality operations
3. Strength the skills of HEIs teaching staff on zero-waste management in hospitality/tourism operations
4. Improve the level of skills of the future workforce (students) in the tourism and hospitality sector on zero-waste management
5. Enhanced reskilling/ upskilling of the hospitality and tourism labour force on the next generation of waste management skills.
6. Raise awareness on zero-waste practices and careers in the hospitality and tourism sector
7. Modernize the academic offer of HEIs Hospitality and Tourism (and other relevant) Departments on innovative zero-waste tourism.
