Project Summary
The nations of Thailand and Vietnam are currently facing demographic
transition challenges remarkably like those encountered by the European
Union, signifying a widespread pattern in global population dynamics:
their population is ageing. Senior citizens, individuals over 65, often
display various characteristics, including physical, cognitive, and
psychological changes and social and economic disruptions. These groups
are particularly vulnerable and are frequently marginalised due to the
absence of comprehensive policies, support services, infrastructural
provisions, and educational resources in higher education institutions.
The
LEAN project envisions a systematic, holistic, and innovative
enhancement in the Higher Education landscape int Thailand and Vietnam
that will affect society at large. Its aim is to foster awareness and
innovation in Ambient Assisted Living Nursing Education practices and
schemes, by advancing the capacity building of HEIs in educating
students and the relevant societal, government, and professional
stakeholders involved in implementing effective solutions for the
wellbeing of aging populations.
LEAN is dedicated to transforming
education and professional standards by providing the skills needed to
embrace digitisation in Nursing education. The project consortium, which
includes a partnership between two Thai and three Vietnamese Higher
Education Institutions along with European allies, utilizes cutting-edge
techniques to enhance Higher Education capabilities in the target
countries. Through a series of workshops, training programs, and the
creation of online learning platform, LEAN is set to deliver concrete
results such as 11 improved courses in 5 Nursing programmes, the
creation of LEAN Innovation Hubs, and accessible educational resources.
